The gaps between the granules provide the vital oxygen supply that the roots also need – as plants that only sit in water will suffocate through lack of oxygen. The biggest killer of houseplants is overwatering when the roots are effectively drowned! Seramis helps prevent this from happening.
The pH of Seramis is neutral – between 6.2 and 7.5. The pH value will change quickly to external conditions, as the buffering capacity is low. So plants potted in Seramis should be fed on a regular basis with Seramis liquid plant food, as it is gentle on the plant’s roots and will keep the pH in balance.
